Wheter you are a content creator, product manager, social media influencer or graphic designer, you will likely view, create and share a lot of images online.
Perhaps you have noticed, that more and more images have watermarks added to them. But what are watermarks, and why are they usefull?
"A watermark is a message (usually a logo, stamp, or signature) superimposed onto an image"
But a watermark can also be placed on top, or just below an image, and can also contain website links or socialmedia accounts.
Watermarks are commonly used to protect the copyright of photo's and images, but that is not the only reason why it's important to add a watermark to your content. Community Managers and anyone working with social networks, knows that a watermark can be a very effective way to promote your brand or website. How? By adding the corresponding logo to each image that the business produces. Then, when users come across a picture with the that watermark, they know exactly where the image came from.
